There’s nothing like chilly, cold days to get you in the winter mood.

Now that the colder months are rolling around, it’s super important to find a self-care routine that works for you.

As a student, school can get really hectic sometimes, leaving me in a bubble of stress and uncertainty.

What helps me get centered again is a nice self-care routine that isn’t too high maintenance but also allows me to take time for myself.

Like I said, winter is upon us, so we all need to adjust our self-care routines to fit a cozier mood.

If you’ve never thought to incorporate some self-care activities into your life, now is the time to start.

As I mentioned before, you shouldn’t feel guilty about pampering your body and your mind every once in a while.

It’s good for you. It’s good for those around you. It’s good for putting you in a neutral mindset again.

I never knew what a “self-care routine” was until a few years ago when I started watching Youtubers talk about it.

Because I am a busy student, I don’t have ample amounts of time to spend relaxing, so I have to be super strategic in choosing self-care activities that are short, simple, but sweet!

There’s no excuse for letting life drag you through the mud. Everyone has time to take care of themselves no matter what.

If you like a self-care routine that is a bit more boujee and extensive, then take a Saturday or Sunday to just enjoy yourself.

If you’re like me and you like little things here and there to keep your mood uplifted, then taking an hour or two during the week is another option.

Whether or not you want to spend one hour or one day on your self-care routine, there is a gigantic list of winter self-care ideas that you can and should try.

In this post, I’m going to share 10 winter self-care ideas for the cozy, chilly days.

These are all things that I love to do during the week or weekend to pamper myself, and you should too!

There is a self-care idea in here for every single type of person, so there’s a lot of variety here!

I know you guys want to get to the good stuff, so I’ll get straight into the recommendations!

1. Bath and Bubbles

A bath is a GREAT quick winter self-care activity to do once (or even twice) a week.

Whenever I have a lot going on, I take an hour at night to make a lavender bath for myself because the scent naturally relaxes the mind.

I’ll fill my tub, grab the iPad, and Netflix and chill for an hour or so.

Talk about paradise 😉.

Not only does a bath give me uninterrupted “me time”, but the lavender also just relaxes my muscles, my mind, and my mood (we all need that)!

2. DIY Manicure

This is probably the self-care activity I do the most often.

About every week or so, I’ll sit down and give myself a homemade manicure.

I do EVERYTHING myself- soaking my nails, cutting the cuticles, moisturizing with oil, shaping my nails.

I know some people dread the idea of doing all the work themselves, but I find a way to make it a fun, leisurely pampering activity.

Not only does a DIY manicure save you SO much moolah, but it’s fun to be able to do your nails your own way at your own pace.

You can even go so far as to buy a special kit to do gel and acrylics at home!

Normally, I’ll turn on my current Netflix fav and I’ll spend an hour painting my nails.

Nothing says “pampering” better than a luxurious home spa manicure!

3. Moisturizing Face Masks

Oh, how I love a nice, calming face mask in the winter! It’s one of the best winter self-care ideas you can try out!

I don’t know about you, but my skin gets SUPER dry and dehydrated during the colder months, and that is bad news for acne folks like me.

I love incorporating an extra self-care step in my skincare routine by applying a luxurious hydration face mask for 20-30 minutes.

I try to up the moisture as much as possible in the winter so that my skin doesn’t feel the burn!

You can do a “face mask night” one or twice a week by putting on a fuzzy robe, masking, and watching some Netflix to let the time pass.

I personally love to splurge a little more on skincare to get the best ingredients possible.

But…that doesn’t mean there aren’t great drugstore options out there too!

Here are some of my other face mask favorites:

4. Fuzzy Clothes

There is NO better feeling than being covered in fuzzy clothes during the winter.

I’m the type of person that is ALWAYS cold.

My feet freeze. My hands freeze. I need fuzziness in my life during the colder months.

Sometimes, just hopping into some fuzzy pj’s and a nice robe can feel pampering on its own.

This is something I do every night before going downstairs to sit next to the fire.

It’s the little things that can feel pampering.

You don’t always have to find out of the ordinary activities to relax and unwind.

Getting into some fuzzy clothes and sitting next to the fireplace is one of the simplest things I do that makes my mind feel at ease immediately!

Plus…who doesn’t want to experience all of that coziness the fireplace is offering you??

5. Bake, Bake, Bake!

Ugh, the smell of freshly baked desserts makes my heart happy!

As someone who loves food, baking and cooking winter desserts is automatically an activity that relieves stress and calms me down. As a plus, baking doesn’t have to take lots of time!

I love to do this activity with friends and family, especially on days where I don’t have anything planned.

Turning the fireplace on, playing some chill music, and baking away is the ultimate recipe to self-care (no pun intended 😉).

6. Body Scrub

A self-care activity doesn’t always have to last a whole day.

Something as small as a 2-minute body scrub in the shower can make you feel refreshed, reenergized, and pampered.

Now, I have to admit that sometimes I’m not the most consistent at body scrubbing every day.

That’s why I love to leave that self-care activity for days when I have bit more time and energy to spend on my shower routine.

You could always go for a in-shower body moisturizer, scrub, or even both!

This self-care activity is proof that pampering yourself doesn’t have to be a drag!

Better yet…buy a winter scented body scrub if you really want to get in the cozy mood 😉.

7. Hair Mask

This self-care activity is super similar to the body scrub, and I love to do the two of them at the same time.

It can be done in literally minutes!

There is no better feeling than soft, luscious, healthy hair, and a good hair mask can always help with that.

Now, as someone with super greasy hair, I try to find masks that won’t be too heavy on my scalp.

The Briogeo Deep Conditioning mask is a perfect option for all hair types, and it’s a bestselling item for the brand.

Do yourself a favor and give your hair some love once in a while!

8. Make Some Hot Cocoa

As easy and basic as it may sound, making yourself a cup of hot chocolate during the winter can be a simple way of relaxing, decompressing, and having some “me time.”

I love to do this when it’s cold, snuggle by a fire, and watch a nice classic movie.

Out of all the hot chocolate brands I’ve tried, the Swiss brand is by far the best.

I always repurchase it when I run out because it’s a staple in my pantry.

You may be thinking that hot chocolate is too obvious for a self-care activity.

Why does self-care have to be complicated?

Something has quick as taking 2 minutes to make hot chocolate can make you feel cozy and warm just when you need it.

Trust me! This winter self-care activity is one you won’t want to miss out on!

9. Yoga Session

There’s a reason why so many people suggest exercising as a stress reliever.

No matter what….moving your body helps get out all the negative vibes you may be feeling.

Let’s be honest though, winter sometimes turns us into lazy couch potatoes just wanting to sit next to the warm fire.

It happens to the best of us.

But, you have to motivate yourself to get active even during the colder, gloomier months.

I love to do a short (but sweet 😉) yoga session every now and then to get my body relaxed and my mind reset.

As “voodoo” as it may sound, yoga really does help center my mind and get all the tension released from my body.

I have a super cute mat that I keep upstairs that I use whenever I want to yoga it up!

If you’ve never tried incorporating yoga as a self-care activity, try it out now.

Even if you just do one short session a week, that’s still better than nothing!

Trust me…you’ll start feeling the difference the second you start!

For my Canadian friends, click here for the mat.

10. Write In a Journal

Shop Here

You’ll be surprised how therapeutic writing can be.

When you’re pissed about something, write it out in a journal.

When you’re happy or excited about something, write it out in a journal.

Just like music is a way of relieving emotions, so is writing your thoughts down in a journal.

It may sound childish or immature, but it’s not.

Having a diary or a journal where you spill all your feelings can help you cope with whatever you’re dealing with.

Whether you’re going through ups or downs, writing it down can help you get it out in the open.

When in doubt, write it out 😉.

For my Canadian friends, click here for the journal.

Well friends, there you go! Those are 5 super easy winter self-care ideas that you can start incorporating into your life literally right now!

Whether you want to pamper yourself once a week or every day, there are so many activities you can do that’ll help you relax, unwind, and reenergize.

That being said, I’ll let you go so you can have a few extra “me time” minutes today 😉.
